Dena united:
volley 4 relief

Project Need:
The Eaton Fire was an unexpected crisis that deeply affected our school community, forcing us to leave campus for nearly three weeks. During that time, over a dozen students were displaced, and several lost their homes entirely. The sudden separation from our peers, routines, and sense of stability created a void that extended far beyond physical distance, it fractured our connection to one another. In response, we recognized a need not just for recovery, but for reconnection. This project was born from our desire to restore unity, uplift community spirit, and create a space for healing through shared experiences and school pride.
Our Project:
While our original project was intended to surround topics of children's health, after the Eaton fire devastated our community, we decided to center our project around supporting our community during times of crisis. This inspired us to create Dena United: Volley 4 Relief, an all-women, student and staff volleyball tournament designed to help raise funds for Altadena Girls, a LA fires organization that provides girls with their daily needs and essentials. The tournament was hosted on April 3rd, 2025. Marshall Fundamental partnered with Pasadena High School’s Girls Build team, 28%, to unite our schools as communities impacted by shared challenges. Our event allowed us to raise a grand total of $700, and 100% of these proceeds went to Altadena Girls. In conclusion, not only were the teams able to raise money for their recently impacted community, but they were also able to bond and have the most fun in doing so. As a club that was the best way to sum up the hectic school year.

Team Spirit In Action:
Leading up to the tournament, we hosted many activities to get prepared! A week before the game, Pasadena High School hosted a tie-dye pizza party, where both teams created tie-dye t-shirts to wear to the Volleyball Game! Through this event, both schools were able to bond and have some fun!
To help promote the event, both teams crafted handmade bracelets in their school colors, featuring their school names, and gave one to everyone who purchased a ticket, ensuring that everyone in attendance at the game wore a symbol of school pride and unity!
