Having participated in Girls Build LA for over 10 years, Thurgood Marshall Secondary School is passionate about making a difference, both in our school and club community. Our mission is to cultivate a life of holistic well-being by honoring each member's personal needs, relationships, and passions. We hope to solve the problem of feeling out of place in a school environment by encouraging the idea of getting out of one's comfort zone and getting to know other members of the team.
Voices in Bloom is our
Voices in Bloom is not only a name but a message that emphasizes the importance we place on each individual's voice. We understand that adolescence is a confusing and difficult time, and we want to provide an opportunity for students to be heard.
Through this year's project, "Voices in Bloom, An Artshow", club members will be able to create an artifact that represents the personal growth that they've found within themselves after involvement in a particular program here at Thurgood Marshall. On the day of the event, their creative pieces will be on display for the community to view, middle and high schoolers alike; this provides them with an insight into what our school has to offer and how it shapes our students' lives.
From making friendship bracelets to Thanksgiving cards, our club has always found joy when partaking in arts and crafts that bring everyone together.
