Through this year's project, "Voices in Bloom, An Art Show", club members created an artifact that represents the personal growth that they've found within themselves after their involvement in Thurgood Marshall's community. The day of the showcase opening, March 25, the display was stationed in the main foyer for the school to view.
Thurgood Marshall is a Secondary School, meaning we have both Middle and High School students. Middle Schoolers ranging from 6th to 8th grade were brought out of their classes to look through the display and become inspired as to what type of programs they would like to get involved in once they transition to high school. They had the opportunity to ask our members questions and share their own thoughts about what person they hope to grow up to be during these next 4 years!
Through this opportunity, our members were able to share their story and the passions that are correlated to their time in high school. It was uplifting and heartwarming to see so many girls feel confident and accepted enough in our club to put themselves out there for the rest of the school to see!

March 26, the day after the showcase's debut, our team hosted a luncheon that was open for all of our club members to attend. With our theme this year being rooted on personal growth and self reflection, we invited a special guest, Ms. Sam James, to share her story. As a Thurgood Marshall Alumni, she is most familiar with the difficulties of navigating high school. The opportunity to listen and receive advice was not only inspirational, but reassuring to know that our future is in our hands to a greater extent than we may think.
Additionally, our artists were able to present their creative pieces on a more personal level, both with the club and Ms. James. From hearing about one's journey on the Softball team to how dance has shaped their character, it brought our community closer. After our discussion, we concluded with a delicious Panera lunch!
